Why You Need Club Lounge Access at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa is one of my favorite hotels on the island of Maui!  The Hyatt Regency Maui offers the best balance of family fun, value, dining choices, amenities, with a great location on Kaanapali Beach, that is perfect for a family vacation.  It's no wonder why we make it an annual vacation spot for us year after year!

Why do you need Club Lounge Access?
When selecting a place to stay, especially in Maui (or the Hawaiian Islands), I always try to find the best possible value I can for my family (or clients) and one of the best ways to do that is to stay somewhere that offers free breakfast or a club lounge.  If you have high enough status in a hotel's loyalty program (i.e., Hyatt Globalist, Marriott Bonvoy Platinum, etc) the choice on where to stay becomes a lot easier since you will get lounge access, free breakfast, among many other benefits that having that status entails.

But what if you don't have that status - what's the next best thing you can do to help save money or increase the value of your trip?  Some options may include paying for the access, booking a club level room or using more points to book into a club room that offers that lounge access.

The next question you'd be asking is why should I care about having club lounge access or what makes it so great in the first place?

At the Hyatt Regency Maui, having Regency Club Lounge access can save you a lot of money over the course of your vacation and make things a lot easier when traveling with kids.

What is the Regency Club?
The Regency Club is exclusively for the comfort and convenience of Regency Club Level guests, accessible by private key access only for guests booking a Club Level room, guests with Hyatt Globalist Status or Hyatt Explorist members using a club lounge upgrade award.

The Regency Club welcomes guests with its stunning ocean views, refined and relaxed ambiance with comfortable lounge seating, personalized service and complimentary food and beverage presentations throughout the day.

Location
The newly transformed Regency Club Lounge at the Hyatt Regency Maui has been relocated to the lobby level in the Lahaina wing from its previous location on the top floor of the hotel.  This new location allows for easier accessibility and also offers a larger outdoor terrace with ocean views and of the resort gardens.

The brand new Regency Club Lounge is a big upgrade from the previous location in terms of seating and size.  The new lounge features over 3,000 square feet of space and guests can choose comfortable indoor or outdoor lanai seating with views of the ocean or lush gardens.

Food and Beverage Presentations
The club lounge offers personal concierge service, continental breakfast every morning, refreshments and snacks throughout the day with light hors d’oeuvres and desserts in the evening. Alcoholic beverages are served at a minimal charge.

Is it Worth the Cost?
Regency Club rooms are priced above standard rooms and typically offer better views on the higher floors of the hotel.  If you don't have access via Globalist status or are using one of four Club Access Awards for being an Explorist member is it worth the cost?

In most cases, the cost of having Club Lounge access is approximately valued at $150 for double occupancy, or what Hyatt typically values it at.

For approximately $150 per day, you get all day access to food and drinks, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and reduced rates for wine and alcohol.  You can do the math on what you'd typically spend on all day dining and drinks to see if it makes sense for you, but in most cases you would likely break-even or even come out ahead when comparing it to the hotel dining choices and pricing.  If you have high enough status in World of Hyatt or are using an award you'd be getting a great value for having Club access.

The Hyatt Regency Maui offers wonderful dining choices and having Regency Club access compliments these selections very nicely.  In this case having club lounge access would help save you money, although you may miss out on some of the dining experience offered at the hotel if you strictly relied on the Regency Club for food.

Even if you have Regency Club Lounge, I highly recommend dining at Japengo for dinner - you won't be disappointed, as it is one of the best restaurants on the island!

Lastly, the convenience of having Regency Club lounge access cannot be overstated, especially with younger children.  When traveling as a family with younger children, having club lounge access is huge and in most cases there is no extra charge for kids under twelve.  Being able to grab food and drinks at your convenience, scheduling meals around kids nap times and not having to worry about dining reservations can be a great benefit to have.
