Introducing the all-new SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity (MOSAC)

Review: SMUD MOSAC - Museum of Science and Curiosity

Welcome to Sacramento’s newest science center, the SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity, also known simply as MOSAC.

The SMUD Museum of Science of Curiosity is Northern California’s newest science center!  We  recently enjoyed a Member Preview at MOSAC and can't wait to visit again when they officially open on November 13th!

MOSAC, located in a historic power station overlooking Matsui Waterfront Park along the Sacramento River, will be a dynamic epicenter for STEM education and an anchor point for Sacramento’s revitalized waterfront.

The SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity is a great place for people of all ages to spend a fun-filled day.

From journeys through outer space to conversations with Curiosity Collaborators, there’s always something new to experience at MOSAC.  MOSAC is filled with numerous exhibits that are sure to pique the curiosity and spark the imagination of every visitor with hands-on interactive exhibits, l;ive demonstrations and events that explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, arts and math.

Here's a preview of some of these wonderful exhibits from our recent visit.

Note that some portions of the museum were still under construction in terms of filling out the exhibits, but from what we were able to experience, this will for sure be a family favorite place to visit in Sacramento!

The exhibitions look at the bigger picture and how we can all help address global and local issues on topics relating to energy, health, water, nature, space and design engineering.

While you're not allowed to take pictures inside the state-of-the-art planetarium/multiverse theater, it is not to be missed!  We were treated to an immersive trip through our solar system and it was definitely one of highlights of our recent visit here!

For everything you need to know, including pricing, hours of operation, exhibit information and getting timed tickets, head on over to the MOSAC website for all of the details you may need to know for your visit here!

And yes masks are still required for your visit as of November 2021 - MOSAC has implemented new protocols to protect the health and safety of staff and visitors. This includes masks for staff and visitors, frequent cleaning of galleries and high-touch surfaces, and reduced capacity to encourage social distancing.
