Enjoy Afternoon Tea at the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco

The Japanese Tea Garden is one of the most popular attractions in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, originally built as part of a sprawling World's Fair, the California Midwinter International Exposition of 1894.

The Japanese Tea Garden provides visitors an opportunity to experience the natural beauty, tranquility and harmony of a Japanese-style garden in the heart of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

It is a perfect place to take a stroll and enjoy all of the beautifully manicured grounds before or after a trip to the California Academy of Sciences, de Young Museum or other great places to visit in Golden Gate Park.

After enjoying a walk around the grounds of the garden, be sure to enjoy a meditative cup of tea and sample popular Japanese refreshments in the newly refurbished Tea House which has a custom-designed irori or farmhouse style family table.

The Tea House is nestled in the center of The Japanese Tea Garden and overlooks the picturesque landscape and South-facing pond.

The Japanese Tea Garden is open daily with the following hours:

Summer (3/1 through 10/31): 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
Winter (11/1 through 2/28): 9:00 am to 4:45 pm

Pricing is reasonable with Free Admission on Monday, Wednesday and Friday before 10 AM.  Otherwise, you'll pay $9 for Adults, $6 for Youth (12-17) and $3 for Kids (5-11).  Residents of San Francisco get a discount on these prices.
