Review: Intercontinental The Clement Monterey

Located next to the Monterey Bay Aquarium on historic Cannery Row, the Intercontinental The Clement Monterey hotel offers stunning ocean views, refined luxury and is a perfect location to consider for a family-friendly getaway to Monterey.

On our most recent trip to Monterey, we experienced everything The Clement Monterey has to offer and would highly recommend it if you're considering a trip to the central California coast.

Whether you're visiting Monterey to explore the aquarium, dine in oceanfront restaurants or just enjoy a relaxing weekend, the Clement Monterey is hard to beat in terms of location, luxury and service.

Hotel Overview:
The Intercontinental The Clement Monterey is one of the newer hotels in Monterey, opening in 2008 and is conveniently located next to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and also steps away from boutiques, eateries, galleries, attractions, beaches and a vibrant street scene.

There is a living room area just off of the lobby that features a fireplace and ample seating that opens up to an outdoor terrace featuring fire pits that overlook the ocean.

Other great hotel amenities include:
  • Boardwalk & Pier Overlooking the Ocean - walk out on the pier overlooking the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary
  • the C restaurant bar - Enjoy seasonal coastal cuisine at the C restaurant + bar, showcasing fresh seafood and prime beef that celebrate the bounty of California.

  • Full Service Spa and Fitness Center

  • Outdoor Pool - The pool is located across the street from the main building across the walkway, but is pretty small when compared to a standard size pool.

Parking is available through valet for $29 per night or you can self-park with prices varying depending on the parking garage you select.

The hotel is also a short stroll away from the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail along the coastline and only a short drive away from Fisherman's Wharf, Downtown Monterey, Pebble Beach, Carmel, and the Monterey Wine Country.

Accommodations:
The hotel features 208 rooms and 12 luxury suites featuring a stylish seaside inspired decor with all of the standard amenities you'd expect from the Intercontinental brand.

For our recent stay here, we were in a standard room featuring two double beds.

Summary:
The prime location of the hotel next to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in the heart of Cannery Row cannot be beat.  We were able to walk right out of the hotel after breakfast each morning during our stay and be in the aquarium within minutes.

We also enjoyed the shops and restaurants on Cannery Row and also took a nice 30-minute walk along the coastal trail to Old Fisherman's Wharf for dinner at Paluca Tratorria (famous for being a filming location for the hit show on HBO called Big Little Lies).

Overall, the Clement Monterey is a great choice to consider when staying in Monterey!
