Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month

Do you consider yourself a seasoned skier/snowboarder or maybe you've never been and want to learn?  This month is a perfect time to save some money on ski packages and lessons at most major resorts nationwide as it is National Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month.  Participating resorts nationwide are offering great discounts on lessons, lift tickets, rental equipment and accommodations.

You can learn more about resorts participating in your area by visiting the official website for the month long event at Ski and Snowboard Month.

Example of Great Discounts in Lake Tahoe:
An example of some of the great discounts being offered include a great package deal at Diamond Peak Ski Resort located in North Lake Tahoe.  I recently visited the ski resort and ended up purchasing a Ski Package for $99 that included a lift ticket, rental equipment and a 2 hour lesson.  The same ski package is being offered for just $39 as part of the Learn to Ski and Snowboard event.  Unfortunately the special pricing is only available for a week, from January 11-15, and not for the entire month of January.

Other great resorts participating in the event in and around Lake Tahoe include Northstar, Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl, Squaw Valley and many more.

For resorts in the Lake Tahoe area, I would recommend visiting Go Tahoe North and reading more about the participating resorts and what discounts and deals are being offered at each resort.

If you don't live anywhere near Lake Tahoe, visit Ski and Snowboard Month to find something close to where you live to take advantage of the great deals being offered as part of this month long event.

Rental Equipment and Snow Gear:
If you are new to skiing or snowboarding and don't want to buy equipment, I would recommend renting it from the resort or getting a package deal that includes it.  Utilizing this option means you won't have to worry about renting from another location and traveling with all of your gear and can just rent and return on-site.

Most packages offered at the resorts would include all of the equipment you would need to get started and enjoy a day out on the snow and would include skis or snowboard, boots and sometimes a helmet as well.

Most resorts will have lots of other snow gear available for purchase, but expect to pay a lot of money if you plan on buying it there.  I would recommend buying items off-season if you can or checking Amazon for the best deals.  You could also check local stores for sales on snow equipment, snow gear and clothing.

If you are new to skiing or snowboarding or need some new snow equipment/gear, I would recommend having the following items at a minimum: Snow goggles, face shield, beanie, snow jacket, snow pants, snow boots and gloves.

Snow Goggles

Face Shield or Balaclava

Winter Headwear

Snow Jacket (Waterproof Jacket that will keep you warm as well)

Snow Pants

Snow Boots

Gloves

There may be other items you could benefit from, but at a minimum, you will need these items if you plan on having an enjoyable experience skiing or snowboarding.
